How long does a typical engagement take?
It depends on the project. Smaller engagements can wrap in a few weeks, while larger engineering or AI builds can run several months. Either way, you'll see working pieces well before the end.
Do we need our own data team already?
No. We work with companies that have no dedicated data hires as well as teams with an existing analyst or engineer we plug in alongside.

How Datana got here
Founded as a data analytics consultancy.
Delivering good analytics meant fixing the data underneath it first. That work pulled us into data engineering and warehousing early on.
So did the practice. Machine learning and AI became part of the work as projects called for them.

Unifying sales data across 60 stores
Cascade Retail's regional managers were making pricing calls on numbers that were three days stale. We built a single live dashboard pulling from every POS system.
A warehouse that survived hypergrowth
Ahead of a funding round, Ledgerline's data volume was set to grow 12x. We rebuilt their pipeline so due-diligence numbers reconciled on the first try.
Predicting patient no-shows before they happen
Harbor Health was losing provider hours to missed appointments. A lightweight predictive model now flags at-risk bookings before they're missed.
Cascade Retail: from three-day-old numbers to same-day decisions
The problem
Cascade Retail runs 60 stores, each with its own point-of-sale system feeding into a weekly spreadsheet rollup. By the time regional managers saw sales and inventory numbers, pricing and staffing decisions were already three days behind reality, and every location's numbers were formatted slightly differently, so nothing rolled up cleanly.
What we did
We built a single ELT pipeline pulling directly from all 60 POS systems into one warehouse, standardizing formats at the source. On top of that, we designed a single live dashboard, split by role: regional managers see store comparisons, store leads see their own daily numbers, and finance sees consolidated revenue with none of the manual reconciliation that used to eat two days a week.

Ledgerline: a pipeline built to survive a funding round
The problem
Ledgerline's original data pipeline was built for their first 10,000 users. Ahead of a Series B, with projected 12x transaction volume growth, engineering was firefighting data pipeline breakages weekly, and investors were starting to ask pointed questions about data infrastructure during diligence.
What we did
We re-architected their ingestion layer around a modern cloud warehouse, added automated data quality checks at every stage, and documented the full data model so any engineer, not just the one who built it, could maintain it. We also built the reconciliation reports their finance team needed for diligence.
The result
Harbor Health: catching no-shows before they cost a provider hour
The problem
Missed appointments were quietly costing Harbor Health provider hours every week, and by the time a no-show happened, it was too late to backfill the slot. Front-desk staff had a rough sense of "risky" bookings but no consistent way to act on it.
What we did
Using two years of historical scheduling data, we built a lightweight model that scores each upcoming appointment's no-show risk and surfaces it directly in the scheduling tool staff already use, with a simple recommended action, like a reminder call, for high-risk bookings.
